No matter what waxing service you are receiving there are a few key things you want to do/know before your appointment! Below I have listed some common questions and answers that I get often from new clients/first time waxers.
Your hair should be at least 1/4 inch or a grain of rice in length. This ensures optimal results for waxing. If the hair is too short the wax won't be able to grab the hairs resulting in a lot of pain, but no results. For most people it takes a minimum of 2 weeks without shaving to achieve this length.
This is a great question and in my opinion extremely important! I always recommend that clients exfoliate with exfoliating gloves in between appointments, and especially the days leading up to their wax! Exfoliating helps to get rid of dead skin and loosens the hair follicle so that the hairs come out easier!
Short answer is YES. The goal of waxing is essentially to pull the hairs out of the hair follicle in order to damage the root and in turn it will not grow back. So it definitely is not pain free and anyone who tells you it is... they're lying to you! :) However the more you wax the less painful it will be! As the hairs get thinner and finer the waxing will be less painful.
This definitely depends on the area being waxed, and the individual's hair growth rate. Most services are best done at 3-4 weeks when you first start. After you have been waxing regularly for a while you may be able to stretch this time out. I never recommend waiting longer than 6 weeks between any waxing appointment.
Any time we are waxing you want to avoid sweat and bacteria getting into the open pores. So for 24 hours avoid these three things: 1. working out 2.bodies of water such as bathtubs, pools, hot tubs, etc. 3.sex (if we are doing a bikini service) When bacteria gets into the open pores it can cause uncomfortable break outs. .
